A Wonderful Saviour

More than two thousand years ago, a wonderful man was born in a small country-Judea. He was reared in obscurity. He possessed no wealth and never held an office. But His birth startled a king and puzzled the wise men.

Most ancient nations related their history to the reign of a king and as soon as the king passed away, a new era began. But the birth of this Man has been widely used, throughout the world, as the epoch of a new era until today.

He had neither training nor formal education and did not travel extensively, and yet He could use the Scripture to preach to the people. Even those who tried to trap Him exclaimed, "No man ever spoke like this Man!"

He never studied medical science and yet He was able to make the blind to see, the deaf to hear, and the lame to walk again. He never practiced medicine and did not charge anything, and yet paralyzed hands were healed, leprous men were cleansed, and dead people were raised up.

He never studied fishery, and yet when He ordered to let down the net for a catch, His disciples caught a great number of fish to an extent that their net was almost breaking. Even those professional fishermen were greatly astonished and had to kneel down before Him.

He never studied meteorology, and yet He could stop the violent storm and calm the angry sea. He was even able to walk upon the billows as if pavement.

He also turned water to wine; and fed five thousand with five loaves and two fish. He never wrote a book, and yet books that have been written about Him numbered more than any other categories of books.

He never wrote a song, and yet He has furnished the themes for numerous songs. He never founded a school, and yet numerous schools have been established in His name.

The past proud statesmen of Greece and Rome have come and gone. The past scientists, philosophers, and great heroes too have had also come and gone. But the name of this Man abounds more and more throughout the world, now and in the past, a great many people, both youth and old, have heard of His name. Every Sunday, while schools close and the wheels of commerce cease their turning, multitudes assembles in churches to worship Him and to praise His name for His abundant grace.

Of the things mentioned above, which one is not a wonder of wonders? But His death is even more wonderful.

In the evening before His death, He knew exactly that He would be crucified and, in a garden, He prayed earnestly with sweat like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

When the unbelievers came to arrest Him, He courageously answered, "I am He (the one you are seeking)!" Then, without any strife, He let them arrest Him, and later He was nailed upon a cross. Many people cried to Him, "Save yourself!" But He kept silent and did not complain to the rudeness of those who nailed Him. In fact, He even prayed for them saying, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."

Astonishingly, when He was reviled, He did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth.

Do you know who this Man is? He is Christ Jesus, the Son of God. He came into the world to save sinners. He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the cross, being the righteous for the unrighteous......

After His death, He was buried in a tomb. But He rose again on the third day and appeared to many people in the following forty days. Then, He was taken up to heaven with the promise that He will come back again.

Many have accepted Him as personal saviour and their lives have been changed completely. And many, though they did not see Him with their own eyes, gladly died for Him because they believed in Him.

If you pray to Him, "Lord Jesus, I am a sinner, please save me," He will save you and give you eternal life, for "whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. "(Romans 10:13)

Please don't ever ignore this wonderful Saviour!
