Except small kids who have not yet learned the value of money, all people wish they could make a lot of money. They believe "once you have money, you have no more worries". Some people even set their primary goal in life on making money. Some others are even willing to die for their fortune and thus bury themselves in the money trap. We admit that we cannot live if we are penniless. But making money definitely is not the primary goal of our pursuit in life.

The following has been said:

With money, you can buy mansions, but not dwelling in peace;

With money, you can buy good wine, but not pure joy;

With money, you can buy fancy clothing, but not moral character;

With money, you can buy comforters for your bed, but not comfort in your soul;

With money, you can buy laughters, but not real enjoyment;

With money, you can buy friendship, but not intimate;

With money, you can satisfy your carnal lust, but not contentment in your heart;

With money, you can buy food, but not a healthy appetite;

With money, you can buy vitamins, but not youth;

With money, you can buy books, but not wisdom;

With money, you can buy a timepiece, but not time;

With money, you can buy blood, but not life;

With money, you can buy insurance, but not guaranteed security;

With money, you can buy entertainment, but not blessings;

With money, you can have a marriage, but not true love;

With money, you can buy a good name, but not nobility;

With money, you can buy costly coffins, but not eternal life;

With money, you can tour the world, but you cannot pay your way into the kingdom of heavens.

The above saying does not mean to belittle the role of money. Possession of wealth is not a sin. However, if wealth is amassed at the expense of the pursuit for the real meaning of life, then it will ruin you. You have a precious soul besides your physical body. At the end of your journey on the earth, apart from your body being disintegrated into dust, your soul will have to find its final resting place. Where are you going to spend your eternity? Where will your soul rest eternally? When you take your very last breath, who will lead you through the valley of death? Then and there, you will realize that, no matter how great a fortune you have amassed on earth, your money cannot save you, and you cannot take a penny away with you.

Jesus Christ, the Lord of heavens and earth, says, "For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" It would be a great tragedy if you, because of your pursuit for wealth, fail to find an eternal resting place for your soul.

Jesus Christ is your Lord who loves you dearly. He has given you life, with a soul and a body. He has made it possible for you to live on this earth which He created. He provides you with air, sunshine, rain and all other essentials for your livelihood on this earth. However, so far you have turned away from Him, heading towards destruction with Satan. But, because He loves you so much and wants to save you from condemnation, He died on the cross for you. After being buried for three days, He rose from the dead and later was taken up to heavens. One day He will come back to receive all who have trusted Him as Savior and take them to the heavenly place He has prepared for them.

God, our Heavenly Father, has given us life, which is much more important than money. How can you ignore His great love? Please come to Jesus and trust in Him as your personal Savior!

"How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?"
